Service and project
Early Retirement Dude uses PostHog product analytics and session replay on the production hosts earlyretirementdude.com and www.earlyretirementdude.com. Local development, previews, and mirror hosts do not initialize analytics.
The dedicated Early Retirement Dude PostHog project is project 518280. Events are sent to PostHog’s United States cloud endpoint. The public project token is an ingestion identifier, not a password or account credential.
What is measured
The configuration measures pageviews, page exits, web performance, clicks and other standard website interactions, along with a limited set of custom events for the FIRE Number and Timeline Planner, Sequence Risk Lab, feed-subscription links, and external referral links clicked from the Site's principal legacy-linked pages.
Custom event properties use an explicit allowlist. Permitted values include counts, a modeling horizon, a historical source period, a result-state label, a tool or share category, a feed format, a source path, or the identified outbound destination. Raw portfolio balances, spending, income, email addresses, and other calculator values are not permitted custom-event properties.
Session replay
Session replay is enabled to diagnose usability and performance problems. A replay can include page structure, clicks, pointer movement, scrolling, and browser console messages.
All typed input values are masked. Entire calculator input and result regions and account/community content use a no-capture boundary, so those regions are excluded from replay and autocapture. Canvas recording is disabled.
Network and URL privacy controls
Session-replay network timing is disabled, so request URLs and bodies are not added to replay through the network-timing feature. The Site also rewrites analytics event URLs before sending them: calculator share parameters are removed from tool URLs and the free-text q parameter is removed from search URLs. Attribution parameters may remain.
Network requests necessarily disclose technical connection information to the receiving service. PostHog’s handling of IP data is also subject to its organization and project settings.
Identity and persistence
PostHog persistence is configured as sessionStorage. The random analytics identifier lasts only for the applicable browser tab or session rather than creating a persistent anonymous identity across visits.
PostHog person profiles are configured as identified only. Anonymous readers do not receive a person profile. If authenticated community functionality is enabled, the Site’s code is designed to identify a signed-in member only by a stable AdvisorWorld user ID, never by sending their email address or name as the analytics identity.
Features not used
- No interest-based advertising or advertising profile is created.
- No visitor data is sold.
- PostHog surveys are disabled.
- Canvas recording is disabled.
- Replay network timing is disabled.
- Anonymous PostHog person profiles are disabled.
Why we use analytics
Analytics is used to understand whether pages and tools work, find broken or confusing interactions, measure performance, prioritize improvements, and protect the integrity of the Site. It is not used to make an automated decision about a visitor’s eligibility, credit, investments, insurance, or retirement readiness.
