Latest podcast appearance: Mr. & Mrs. Countdown to FI

Mr. & Mrs. Countdown to FI were kind enough to host me for their most recent episode. Fun discussion with fun people. We got downright philosophical about several key FIRE-related subjects:

  • FIRE as a movement.
  • Different ways to FIRE.
  • Geographic arbitrage and FIRE in the context of urban and rural lifestyles.
  • Healthcare concerns, breast cancer, ACA subsidies.
  • Are early retirees productive members of society?
  • Highs and lows of the Protestant work ethic.
  • Is early retirement right for everybody?
  • What happens when the robots replace us?
  • FIRE and economics
  • Healthy introspection.

Hope you’ll give it a listen! And be sure to subscribe to their podcast.

  1. Lots of great information in that podcast. l now have a voice (great radio voice by the way!) to go with my perception of who you are.

Some really deep topics were discussed (I could have done with out all the swearing but that just shows how passionate the discussion was). I find your focus on logic and basing arguments on real facts is refreshing compared to all the FUD that is normally recirculated.

  2. First off, thanks for the kind words.

    >FUD

??? What’s the acronym mean? I’ll probably slap my forehead when you explain it.

    >I could have done with out all the swearing

Yeah…I understand where you’re coming from. I tend to swear a good bit depending on the company I keep, and of course I drop f-bombs a good bit in my writing. It’s interesting how in my lifetime it seems that word is being devalued into common parlance–less an attention-getter and more like simple emphasis and punctuation.

    >great radio voice by the way!

    🙂

Is it weird to actually like how your voice sounds on recordings? I do.

  3. FUD = Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt

A disinformation strategy used in sales, marketing, public relations, politics, cults, and propaganda.
